HoliSofi – A woman’s perspective on streaming
HoliSofi, gamer, streamer, anime fan, jumped into the world of streaming during the pandemic. She has kindly agreed to interview with us so she can openly talk about her experience as a female streamer and we can learn what are the biggest challenges she faces as a woman in the industry.
Female Streamers are changing the game
HoliSofi is the living proof a woman can be a lawyer and an Anime streamer. During the pandemic, she decided to put her free time to a good use and create a channel, she now has a large-follower base and you can follow her streams in her ection channel. – you will enjoy them!
How is HoliSofi beyond the screen? How would you describe yourself?
I am a very calm person and I am not usually as talkative as in the streams, I would describe myself as an introverted person, who becomes very extroverted when she becomes more confident.
What is the biggest challenge you face as a female streamer in the industry?
My biggest challenge is that people tend to minimise what I achieve. It is challenging for people to recognize my merits; if I do well, they throw at me the awful “it’s because you are a woman,” diminishing all the effort and dedication I put into the streams. Another challenge, which I think is the same for all women here, is the sexualization of female streamers.
Any advice on how to make the industry more inclusive?
We should all be a little more tolerant and respectful. I think that, despite being very basic concepts, people tend to forget them, and without these fundamental values it is impossible to think of a more inclusive industry.
What would you like to change in the world of streaming?
I wish there were more platforms on which to stream, I feel that right now there’s almost a monopoly, and sometimes the conditions of the platform are not so fair, but since there aren’t many choices, people feel forced to comply.
Favorite quote?
My favorite quote is from my favorite anime “If you don’t like your destiny, don’t accept it. Instead, have the courage to change it how you want it to be!” It is a quote said by Naruto and I feel that it is very true, if you do not like something in your life, you can work very hard and change the course!
